Obama proposal would expand overtime pay for salaried workers

Salaried workers who regularly work overtime — around 5 million more of them nationwide — would be eligible for overtime pay under a proposal made Monday by President Barack Obama, according to The Associated Press. Under the proposed Labor Department rule, salaried workers who make $970 or less a week, or less than $50,440 a year, would be granted overtime pay if they work more than 40 hours a week.
