Tennessee closing in on high school graduation goal

Tennessee is closing in on its goal of a 90 percent high school graduation rate. The state is posted at 86.3 percent graduation rate in 2013, according to the "Building a Grad Nation" report, making it No. 8 in the nation for high school graduation. The state's goal calls for a 90 percent graduation rate by 2020. Tennessee ranked high for on-time graduation rates for students from low-income backgrounds with an 80.7 percent graduation rate.
