Kroger president and COO makes exit

Kroger Co. president Michael Ellis has retired, effective immediately. Ellis, who is 57, became president and COO in January 2014. That’s when Rodney McMullen vacated those roles to become CEO after David Dillon retired. Cincinnati-based Kroger, Memphis' largest operator of supermarkets, and Ellis both agreed that he would retire now, Kroger said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Monday afternoon that included a news release announcing Ellis’ departure.
