Microsoft announces thousands of job cuts

Microsoft announced Wednesday it will lay off 7,800 people, primarily around the Nokia business. The company also plans to write off $7.6 billion related to the Nokia acquisition. Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) paid $7.2 billion for Nokia in an attempt to save its struggling Windows Phone business. This decision makes it clear: Windows Phone's days are numbered.
