
U.S. employers added 223,000 jobs in June, the New York Times reported early Thursday morning. That gives the American economy some fuel to kick off the summer, though the consensus forecast called for 233,000 new jobs. Unemployment fell to 5.3 percent in June, compared to 5.5 percent in May.
